More and more people are finding their home or second home on the Costa Blanca - not only due to property prices and mortgage rates being lower than in the UK, but also to enjoy the relaxed and healthy lifestyle in the warmer Spanish climate.
With an average of 320 days of sunshine per year, the beautiful Town of El Campello and its surroundings is one of the preferred areas within the Costa Blanca Spain.
El Campello and the surrounding towns are an area of variation. The scenery ranges from open curving beaches and coves to vast mountain ranges .Whether you are looking for a beach front property in the idyllic tourist areas of El Campello or Playa’s Muchavista & San Juan, a golf course property on the beautiful golf courses of Bonalba & Alicante or a quiet "casa de campo" (inland property) hidden amongst the mountain ranges of Muchamiel, Busot & Aigues, you are sure to find your dream home here.
Around El Campello there are vast areas of orange, lemon, almond and olive trees - not to mention the vineyards - that give the area a peaceful, beautiful outlook that is a far cry from the industrialised towns with which you may be more familiar.
There is an abundance of fresh fish here too with the small port of El Campello being of prime importance to the fishing industry - and the combination of fresh fish, locally grown outstanding fruit and vegetables, olive oil and local wine (at ridiculously low prices) means that the diet here is truly healthy. Particularly if you indulge in the local cuisine: grilled sardines and tomato salads. You will probably only notice how good everything tastes but your body will thank you for the difference!
It's hard not to take part in an active lifestyle too. The coastline offers many spectacular snorkelling and diving locations, alongside all other watersports such as sailing, windsurfing, fishing and coastal pleasure boat rides. There are many well marked paths for walking, whether along coastal promenades, such as that from El Campello to Playa San Juan, or more mountainous pathways along the Sierra de Cabeco D’or which means the Golden Hills. The view from the top of the Sierra de Cabeco is awesome as are the Caves of Canalobre near Busot.
The area is also of cultural and historical importance too with many ruins, forts and museums to visit. The architectural blend of Moorish, Roman and Spanish building styles can be truly heart stopping.
For the golf enthusiast there is no shortage of excellent courses to choose from and we are delighted to offer opportunities to buy front-line golf apartments and villas - both new builds and resales - at some of the most prestigious courses in the area such as Campo de Golf Bonalba and Campo de Golf Alicante.
So whether you are looking for a holiday retreat, a second home for the winter months or are joining the thousands of Britons leaving the UK to start a happier, healthier life abroad El Campello and its surrounding areas has a place in the sun waiting for you!
Take a look at what the area has to offer!
El Campello
There is just so much to tell you about El Campello. The town itself dates back to the Bronze Age but is probably best known as a typical Spanish fishing village which has been transformed into a beautiful unspoilt Mediterranean coastal resort but still keeps its old character and charm. El Campello is split into two identities with the Pueblo (town) area which is a normal working spanish town with its laid back environment and lifestyle and the Playa (beach) area consisting of a variety of cosmopolitan restaurants, bars and shops set on a beautiful promenade stretching over 3 kilometres to the neighbouring town of San Juan. The Playa area also boasts a beautiful Marina which offers daily fresh fish from the Mediterranean Sea at its mid week Fish auctions (Monday-Friday from 6pm).
El Campello is not just a town - it offers you over 23 kilometers of coastline stretching through the areas to the north such as Poble Espanyol, Coveta Fuma, Cala D’or and Venta Lanuza. To the south of the town centre is the beautiful golden sandy beach and promenade that makes up the popular area of Playa Muchavista. All these areas can be accessed via the new Tram network. This really is an excellent place to live or have a holiday home as everything is easily accessible including the airport which is only 20 kilometers away. What are you waiting for!!
Playa San Juan
A few kilometres north of the city of Alicante, the San Juan beach area spreads through the Playa San Juan area and through to the town of El Campello with its golden sands and crystal waters. There is a three kilometer clean and well maintained promenade and golden sandy beach for you to enjoy the sun and sea. Take a nice leisurely stroll along the board walk full of restaurants and bars with some of the best food on the Costa Blanca. There is an excellent Tram and bus service along the sea front taking you to such places as Alicante City and El Campello. This area also offers you an excellent 18 hole golf course located within Playa San Juan and the International School is also located close by.
Busot
Busot is a peaceful little village dating back centuries. It is famous for its caves (caves of Canalobre), its 12th Century Moorish castle and its beautiful mountains known as the Golden Hills. Busot offers you breathtaking views taking in the town of El Campello, San Juan and as far as the City of Alicante which looks fantastic in the evening. The sea, beach & promenade of El Campello are only a 10 minute drive away with the local golf course of Bonalba even closer. The airport is only a 30 minute drive away from Busot making this a much sought after area. Busot also has a sister village known as Aigues which is also becoming very popular with British expats and Europeans alike.
Bonalba Golf
Bonalba golf course is situated less than 4 kilometers from the sea and offers you elevated views of the coastline and into the back drop of the mountains. Bonalba offers everything a golfer could hope for and for those non golfers it offers you a Spa Centre, clubhouse with in house restaurant and a small commercial centre. The golf course itself stretches around a wave of various multi colored properties and beautiful water features. A round of Golf on Bonalba will cost you around 69 euros with a buggy being an extra 25 euros. It is an excellent location with easy access from the Airport and the A7 motorway.
Muchamiel / Mutxamel
This is a typically Spanish town set around 8 kilometers outside of Alicante city.
Muchamiel/ Mutxamel Town itself sits pretty much on top of the Town of San Juan de Alicant but then stretches out into the Campo (Countryside) taking in areas such as Rio park, Valle del Sol, Santa Faz, Tangel and even as far has Bonalba Golf & Spa Complex. Once again this is a popular area to live as the beaches of Playa San Juan and El Campello are only a short drive away.
